VELVET CLOAK

I've been thinking about this manicure since the first time I saw it somewhere on internet. Actually I liked it so much that I was constantly thinking about it until I ordered velvet dust for this type of manicure.

This manicure is just too cool. I don’t know why I like it so much, maybe because it’s different from all the things that cosmetic industry is feeding us constantly. The whole concept aren’t shiny nails, but fussy, velvet nails that you constantly wish to touch.

You can easily find velvet dust on ebay or any online shop and the price is more than acceptable, only a few dollars.

One time I was watching a tutorial how to apply this dust, but frankly I don’t remember the procedure any more so I decided to go by the feeling. Hm, maybe that wasn’t the best idea, but let’s begin.

I applied shellac on my nails (whole process is described HERE) and cured it in UV lamp. Shellac leaves a sticky residue on nails and usually you would remove this residue with alcohol after you’re done applying all layers. Instead removing sticky residue, I dipped nail into the jar with dust.

The velvet powder will stick to nail and around nail, but you can clean it with a brush. Take some old makeup brush that you’re not going to use again for makeup and dust off the nail.

Once you dusted off the nail; push nail in jar again and dust again. I repeated this process couple of times, just to make sure I covered the whole nail with dust.

And you’re done. This manicure looks amazing.

Dust lasted on my nails one day, which means I did something wrong. Me 0, dust 1, but this is far from over. I’ll watch some tutorials and do over. I’ll get back to you with the results!
